Plating Wastewater Systems Management

چکیده

astewaters from all processes w are collected by gravity flow into acid-alkali (rinses), chromate, cyanide, spenttstripping acids, and cleaner sumps. The acid concentrates and cleaner concentrates are gradually fed into chromate and acid-alkali (rinse) sumps, respectively. Cyanide destruction is achieved by oxidation with sodium hypochlorite whereas hexavalent chrome is reduced to trivalent chrome with sodium metabisulfite. The oxidized cyanide and reduced chrome are sent to the neutralization tank; the pH is raised with sodium hydroxide for metal hydroxide precipitation. The treated wastewater is then mixed with an anionic polymer at the rate of 1 to 5 ppm to promote flocculation. Clarification is achieved through a slope plate clarifier, followed by final sand filter polishing prior to discharge into the sewer. The dewatering of sludge is achieved with a five cubic foot plate and frame filter press and is then removed and collected for landfill disposal.

Total removal of heavy metal from mixed plating rinse wastewater ABSTRACT A mixed plating rinse wastewater containing zinc, hexavalent chromium, trivalent chromium, and cyanide with total dissolved solids

A mixed plating rinse wastewater containing zinc, hexavalent chromium, trivalent chromium, and cyanide with total dissolved solids of 424 mg/1 was treated by a model consisting of a sand filter and ion exchange columns. A strongly acidic cation resin in hydrogen form and a strongly basic anion resin in hydroxide form were used in the columns as cationic and anionic exchangers, respectively. The...

کارآیی حذف کروم، نیکل، روی و کدورت از فاضلاب صنایع آبکاری به روش الکتروکوآگولاسیون

Background and purpose: Heavy metals such as chromium, nickel, and zinc are the most common contaminants found in the plating wastewater that cause environmental pollution due to non-biodegradability. This study investigated the removal of chromium, nickel, zinc and turbidity from wastewater of plating and galvanized industries by electrocoagulation technology. Material and methods: This study...

Application of Clinotptilolite in Removal Ofnickel (II) in Plating Wastewater

The ability of Clinoptilolite powder to adsorb Ni (II) ions from wastewater which was taken from a nickel plating factory was investigated through batch experiments. The Ni (II) adsorption was found to be dependent on mass of adsorbent, contact time, pH value of solution and the speed of agitation. The experimental isotherms data were fitted into Langmuir and Freundlich models. The monolayer ad...

The Use of Two Culturing Methods in Parallel Reveals a High Prevalence and Diversity of Arcobacter spp. in a Wastewater Treatment Plant

The genus Arcobacter includes species considered emerging food and waterborne pathogens. Despite Arcobacter has been linked to the presence of faecal pollution, few studies have investigated its prevalence in wastewater, and the only isolated species were Arcobacter butzleri and Arcobacter cryaerophilus. This study aimed to establish the prevalence of Arcobacter spp. at a WWTP using in parallel...
